2nd DAY OF THE MONTH
THE INVOCATION
THE HYMN OF THE DAY
OPENING PRAYER
Gracious Rock of Ages that was cleft for me, cleft my heart this day,
that I may receive Your Word and the work of Your Holy Spirit.
Fill in me what You open and close all that I have opened apart from You
so that nothing I do this hour, this day,
is unprofitable to Your Kingdom and Your glory. Amen.
THE CONFESSION OF SIN
Lord of all perfect thoughts, perfects words, and perfect deeds,
I confess to You that my thoughts, my words, and my deeds have been wholly imperfect.
I confess both the inherent imperfections born of my sinfulness
and those imperfections that I have chosen in preference to You and Your holy will.
I have chosen to serve my kingdom rather than Yours.
I have chosen to expect far more discipline, obedience, and loving service from others rather than from myself.
I have chosen to love myself more than my neighbor.
I have preferred and chosen to draw my comfort and consolation from the failing words of men rather than from Your ever comforting and consoling Word.
And while I hear the excuses of mankind,
I openly confess these things and all that I am and have been to You.
In the name of Your Son, who daily and in the hour of death,
made the perfect choice of You for me,
forgive me of all imperfections and cleanse me of my sin.
Deal with me not according to my imperfections,
but according to Your holy perfect love and grace.
In the name of He who is perfect and perfecting of all who believe, I pray this imperfect prayer. Amen.

THE PRAYERS FOR THE DAY
Gracious God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
hear my pathetic prayer of thanks, praise and petition for the sake of my Savior, Jesus Christ.
I offer my thanks and praise to You for the gift of my Savior, Jesus Christ,
and for the blessings He richly supplies to me.
Blessed are You, O Lord my God, for Your gifts of mercy, grace, forgiveness, and eternal life.
Blessed are You, O Lord my God, for Your gifts of the Holy Word and the blessed Sacraments
through which You have given me faith and sustain me in that faith.
O Lord my God, I consecrate my mouth to Your service this day,
so as to speak in all things as if You were speaking, and in this way,
allow only that which is good, true, and beneficial to be heard from me.
O Lord my God, I consecrate my hands to Your service this day,
so as to work and do only those things which are good, right, and beneficial for those around me.
O Lord my God, I consecrate my all to Your service this day,
so as to let the life of Christ my Savior be sent forth through me according to the work and will of the Holy Spirit,
and in this way,
allow others to know Jesus through me in more than my words.
Having consecrated these things to You and Your service,
allow me to never put my faith in anything that I have consecrated to You.
Defend and protect me from such folly,
so that I may wholly trust in what You have consecrated to me:
Your Son, Your Word, Your given Sacraments, and Your blessed Spirit,
who has brought me to the faith and keeps me therein.
This I ask and pray in that name, consecrated for my prayers, Jesus. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
THE CLOSING PRAYER
Holy and making holy is the Lord our God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Perfect and perfecting is the Lord our God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Righteous and making righteous is the Lord our God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
May His making holy, perfect, and righteous be in me and through me every hour of this day,
so that in all things, I may be found abounding in His making. Amen.
